DMC Names New Group Chief Operating Officer
Nov 11, 2021DETROIT — Kathy Donovan, MSN, RN, Chief Executive Officer of DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan, will serve in an expanded role as Detroit Medical Center’s Group Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.
Donovan will oversee hospital operations, service line growth and efficiency and nursing. Donovan will have direct report accountability for Hospital CEOs, the Group CNO and market operational leaders.
She will play a key role in helping build the future of the DMC as we work to enhance our operations, clinical expertise and build upon key service lines to ensure we continue to provide our patients with safe, compassionate and high-quality care.
Donovan has been a nurse for over 30 years with most of her professional career spent in the field of critical care and emergency medicine in the adult and pediatric space. She has over 20 years of experience in healthcare administration including her most recent position as Chief Executive Officer at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Donovan has a solid background in operations, patient care, quality and safety improvement, and is considered a strong leader among her peers in driving growth and building physician relationships.

Donovan earned her Master of Science in nursing from Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Missouri Baptist University, both in St. Louis. She is affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives and is board member for the American Diabetes Association, Methodist Home for Children, and CATCH charities.
