Aug 9, 2021Program Catalyzes New Homeownership and Residential Investment
DETROIT — The Sinai-Grace Guild Community Development Corporation (SGGCDC) is launching an exciting new Live Local incentive program in the heart of Northwest Detroit, in partnership with the Ballmer Group, Enterprise Community Partners, and DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital. This program is designed to support new homeownership, encourage residential growth in the neighborhoods and spur new local investment.
“This program makes a significant investment in the stability of the residential neighborhoods surrounding the hospital, and strengthens our workforce in Northwest Detroit,” said Lisa Campbell, executive director of the SGGCDC. “We are grateful for the generous support from our partners who made this program possible.”
Under the program, eligible participants will receive a one-time incentive to purchase or renovate a primary residence located within the program incentive area. The incentive provides a 5-year forgivable loan of up to $10,000, to be applied towards either the purchase of a primary residence for new homeowners, or can be used for exterior home improvements of current homeowners already residing in the program incentive area. Incentive amounts are designed on a sliding scale based on household income.
The program is available to full-time employees of any employer located within the participant eligibility area (bound by 7 Mile, Wyoming St., Fenkell St., and Evergreen St.). Full-time students and recent alumni of Wayne County Community College NW Campus are also eligible. Eligible participants can then apply the incentive to homes within the program incentive area (bound by Southfield Highway, Curtis St., John C Lodge Freeway, and Puritan Ave.).
To determine eligibility and to apply, applicants can visit the SGGCDC Live Local website at LiveLocalNWDetroit.com. SGGCDC will work with applicants to complete applications. Incentives are limited and based on the availability of funds.
The program is made possible through the generous support of the Ballmer Group, DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital, Enterprise Community Partners, and is administered by Sinai-Grace Guild CDC.
